Orchestral

Professional recordings of ‘The Citadel’ and ‘A Mystery’ performed by Brno Philharmonic under Mikel Toms are available as part of a collection called ‘Stage and Screen Volume 1’, following a recording made for Ablaze Records in 2016. Recordings of my specific pieces or the entire album can also be downloaded in high quality audio from a number of websites, including Presto Classical and Spotify. Audio for both pieces can also be heard below.

The Citadel is an orchestral work that invokes an imaginary world, that would perhaps be suited to historical drama or fantasy drama. Although some stylistic elements are influenced by composers from previous centuries, it is important to me that the character and detail are bold and unique. This piece is scored for double woodwind, full brass section, strings, harp, timpani, gong and side drum.

A Mystery is scored for alto saxophone, string orchestra, harp and gong. I would describe the music as song-like with a mood somewhere between mysticism and romanticism, featuring unusual key changes and chromaticism.
