Having two of my orchestral compositions recorded by the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016 was one of my proudest achievements, and in many ways this was the culmination of an ambition I had held since teenage years.
Since 2011, I have played alto saxophone, and enjoy performing with the AD Concert Band and the Coventry Saxophone Ensemble.
I’m now working towards an ARSM performance only diploma, which I hope to complete in 2020.
I also have an interest in composing new repertoire for saxophones in a variety of genres, and have enjoyed taking up singing during the last couple of years.
In the past I studied violin and played in the South Birmingham Sinfonia between 2004 and 2008, which was a big part of my musical education particularly for orchestral technique.
Another exciting musical experience has been attending Dartington International Summer School which I have visited many times, playing in various orchestras, chamber music groups and a large jazz ensemble.
I studied one module ‘Musicians at work – From Composition to Performance’ with the Open University, as part of an ‘open degree’, achieving a distinction in the music related module.
The experience of remotely training overseas personnel in my former career has given me confidence to pass on my music theory knowledge remotely by offering music theory tuition via skype.
